The Brick Project

- A shared investigation with architects into the potential use and aesthetic of glass sculpted features in architecture -

The Brick installation is built with individually cast glass bricks as well as reclaimed bricks. With this clear contrast between the fragile, transparent looking bricks and the sturdy reclaimed bricks the artist invites her audience to examine the materiality and deeper meaning of the installation.

With this installation she highlights the hidden aspects of mental health (particularly in an inner-city environment) and theme's such as vulnerability.

With a background in art therapy (BA '00 Leiden, NL) - an MA in Glass ('04 Sunderland) and an ongoing interest in psychology - Verholt draws a relationship between her art practice and relevant socio-psychological topics.
